Who is Mel Stone?
I’ve always loved to write stories, even when I was a kid. Having grown up on an Idaho potato farm with the nearest neighbors miles away, my best form of entertainment was often my imagination. Putting my fantastical daydreams to paper, I soon amassed boxes of half-finished transcripts. They ranged from fairytale-esque tales of princes and dragons to science fiction worlds of aliens and astronauts.
Yet I always had a soft spot for ghost stories.
I especially loved to read historical ghost stories, like the whispered tales of haunted lighthouses or cursed castles. The spiritualist movement of the late 1800s also fascinated me and I could never read enough of the topic!
It wasn’t until after I was married and had raised several children that I finally found the time to combine my passion for writing with my fascination of the historical and supernatural. Enter The House that Death Built, my first finished manuscript.
Finishing my first book and seeing it published was a dream come true! It was hard work and took hours of not only writing and editing, but also of research. It’s funny when your kids ask you, “Mom, why do you have ‘1800s underwear styles’ on your Google search history?”
I’ve absolutely fallen in love with the journey of writing these gothic romance tales and I hope my passion comes through in my books. I have a lot more story ideas left in me and can’t wait to find out what more I can learn, create, and share with you.
Thank you, dear reader, for sharing this journey with me.
